GFF Assessment Report

In 2021, the Organization of African Youth (OAY) conducted a rapid assessment on the barriers to AYSRHR in Kenya. This assessment reviewed the Reproductive, Maternal, Newborn, Child, and Adolescent Health plus Nutrition (RMNCAH-N) investment framework and associated policies, their implementation, and effect on access and delivery of AYSRH services, information, and products at the national level as well as in Nairobi and Kisumu counties. The aim of the assessment was to generate evidence on existing barriers to AYSRH services, including the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on access to SRH services, products, and information.

The consortium comprising of IYAFP, Y-ACT, and OAY is committed to promote gender equality and equity generally; to champion, gender mainstreaming in national development, and access to information for the exercise of or protection of any right or fundamental freedom including safety and free from sexual harassment in public transport. The Rapid Assessment Report on Sexual Harassment in Public Transport indicates that both women and men face sexual harassment and recommends that the cases should be dealt with in equal measure. It is our hope that the recommendations in the report will be implemented in line with existing policies so that everyone can feel safe when travelling, without worrying about the time, geographical location, and the kind of dress one wears while using public transport.
